Aquafit North at Ak’ boL

This morning Paul - Molly and I had quite an adventure. We borrowed one of Pedro's carts and headed north to Maureen's aquafit class - it was a nice change to do class in a new spot. Molly kept wanting to join us so Paul had to help keep her busy. After class Paul was still working with Kirsten so Molly and I hit the beach for some lounging and coconut chasing. On our way home Milio asked to catch a ride wi ...

Belize City Adventure

Decided to do something different today - I booked myself for 7am Tropic Air tacogirl special to the mainland. I am going to the  to meet up with Dick and Carole for a Belize City Adventure. I opted to catch an earlier flight so I could do a bit of a walking tour and snap some pictures before they arrived. I don't get over to the mainland enough to know my way around well [going to change that] so I have 2 ...

Upcoming stuff

Happy St Georges Caye Day everyone. It is a hot sunny one and the puddles are bigger than I expected from last nights rain. Went to Aquafit class this morning - I was not overly motivated to go but glad I did. There was lots of carrying on and general mischief in the pool today making it extra fun. A few things that are coming up... The next Poker Run on Saturday the 11th September. The last one was a ball. ...

Birthday Present

Hard to believe I will be 43 in Wednesday morning. As a special birthday treat we checked into Xanadu Island Resort this afternoon and I can't wait - have been daydreaming about it all morning. Yesterday was one of those days where the wind was blowing all kinds of unpleasant stuff from all directions - now that the dust is settling a bit it is time to enjoy some much needed R&R. We ended up in number O ...

Homemade Mosquito Trap

I got a nice email from Jay a reader today and he sent me something that looks like it could be quite useful a simple homemade mosquito trap. The ingredients are pretty simple -  200 ml water - 1 gram of yeast - 50 grams of brown sugar - a 1 liter plastic bottle and black plastic to cover the bottle. The theory behind it all is that the yeast combines with the sugar and starts to ferment the sugar making ca ...

The Heart of Nature – Belize

Things are moving right along - Harold [and Gayle Cox]  emailed me wanting to donate $100 usd towards a wheelbarrow and possibly a back support belt. He asked if I could find out of Pedro's Hotel would allow him to run his card there since they know him from a recent visit - Pedro was all in to help and told me to sort it out with Cindy. But wait that is not all Harmouche has offered to help match a wheel b ...

You are all invited…

If you somehow have not seen my facebook invitation I am putting it here too. FB was acting up when I was making it and I am pretty sure people either did not get it or got it more than once. The first donation from items off Eric's list has come in. I got a pm this morning saying two shovels are waiting at SP Hardware with a note on them 'San Mateo project'.  How exciting - many thanks to the people who do ...

Athens Gate

As we continue on the Resort crawl our next stop is Athens Gate - which is a few minutes north of Pelican Reef and still in the 3 miles south range.  It is just as nice as Pelican Reef but in a different way - who ever decorated this one likes stripes and interesting prints. I like how both places have lots of local art - Curvin - Papo - Chuy - Edwin and so many more. Been taking or sorting pics all day apa ...

Belize History in the Making

This is a very interesting and important time in the history of Ambergris Caye and Belize -  last night Heather Cathy and I literally 'shot the shit' and had a great brainstorming session. They told me all about their day and by the end of our chat  we had filled in a couple of new puzzle pieces for Direct Abundance Belize. Heather and Cathy went to the school today - met with Vernon and Eric and walked thr ...
