Useful Placencia Vacation Information

Recently I was asked a very good question by one of the tacogirl Facebook page followers. He is planning a Placencia Belize vacation and wanted to know what his late night shopping options were.

Since I tend to pay very little attention to the time when I’m in Placencia because I am not usually on the clock, I defer to my excellent source Sue, who works at Caribbean Beach Cabanas. Owners Dave and Laura also write Pure Placencia Blog which is not only funny but a great resource for Placencia and now Ambergris Caye. They offer split vacations. Sue quickly got back to me with the short reply and added opening time too. I fleshed out the answer a bit by asking for low cost and variety. And the winners are…. Drum Roll 😉

Open from 7:30/8:00 am to 9:00 pm. Best selection and price for Placencia Grocery Stores as chosen by Sue Vasquez are – Top Value and Mings. I have been to both and I agree each one gets a thumbs up.

Click Caribbean Beach Cabanas of Placencia on TripAdvisor and read what other travelers have to say. You can also book this way. I know you will want to after reading your choice of 90 rave reviews. They are all excellent except two, which are very good. I know them all personally and can honestly say – between dynamic duo’s Laura and Dave, Carlos, and Sue, it is no surprise that they currently rank #1 of 27 Specialty Lodging in Placencia with a full 5 circles.

If you are traveling to that district or been there and want to know more about what the area has to offer, just click through on the following write up – Drinkable tap water and 3 restaurants in Placencia. There is also a bowling alley there 😀

taco Fact

If you did not know this about me, I love to go to grocery and hardware stores while on vacation. Not only can you find yummy treats, you will also find useful items that make great souvenirs from your trip. My friends Aimee, Sandy and I are a good example of that on our recent trip to Chetumal thanks to half price flights to Corozal courtesy of Tropic Air Hurricane Earl Relief. Aimee needed to replace some damaged items and wanted to amp up her capacity as well as buy a few useful souvenirs such as her favorite perfect size colorful golf cart towels. Sandie and I both went for Amope for life. Stay tuned for my other practical and fun shopping in Mexico.

Charity Minded Business in Placencia Community

For several months now, Tropic Air has been making donations all around the country. Placencia Belize Rotary was the beneficiary for July 2016. Below is the Press Release issued on Monday, August 22, 2016

Tropic Air, The Airline of Belize, has announced the July results of its 2016 countrywide #TropicGivesBack fundraising campaign. For every ticket bought at the month’s selected station, $1.00 is donated to an organization chosen by our dedicated staff stationed in that community. Placencia was the chosen location for July.

As part of the airline’s largest charitable fundraiser of the year, Tropic Air business partners, staff and customers joined efforts and raised $450.00 for “Seniors Sitting Together”, a highly beneficial community program of the Rotary Club of Placencia. A check was presented to Jim Weller, Acting President of the Club on Tuesday, August 16th.

“On behalf of our customers and staff, we are happy to present a check to the Rotary Club of Placencia. This donation will not only help to support one of the club’s great programs but also gives back to one of the 11 communities we serve in Belize”, said John Greif III, Tropic Air’s president. “At Tropic, each and every member of our staff is encouraged to get involved in their community, whether that is through direct outreach, working within a larger organization, such as Lions or Rotary, or even through mentoring or sports participation.”
