Belize History and San Pedro Weather

Just as I started typing Cowboy Doug's rain report below it started pouring and I had to go close all the windows on the north and east sides of the house. It is a chilly morning,  San Pedro Weather Live shows 76.2 f or 26c - cold enough for me to trade in pool time for work and house cleaning - they are showing it tomorrow :( Belize Rain Report by Cowboy Doug via sms - catching up a few days worth. This mo ...

Record High

Today was a record high of 23 people at Eileen's aquafit class and Tuesday 22. I have really missed my social pool time and find that getting back to class has really been helping my foot recover even though I cannot make it through a full one yet. If you have not already done so don't forget to join Fun in the Sun Aquafit classes facebook page. Other island exercise news - Chi Gong classes are starting up ...

It is going to be a great party, I picked out my dress and have been wearing it around the house all morning. Luckily for Cindy and Cherie below us, my foot is still in recovery and I was not tempted to put on my high heels at 6am :) Today's post comes from - Chris Rowlands-Ba ...

VIP Help Wanted

Chatting with Heather on the coconut phone and finalizing what needs to be done before she sends out the press release we wrote yesterday. She sent me a link to an article on findings from the recent ground testing in San Mateo. I was not surprised at what was said and  it makes Heathers vision of a green community in San Mateo all the more important. These people need help, that soil needs to be detoxed fo ...

The rain was coming down hard around 7:00am and stopped pretty much as soon as tacoboy got up to close the windows it was hitting.  Cowboy Doug of Cowboy's Pool Bar & Grill  at Grand Caribe Resort sent me his North Ambergris Caye range gauge report. GSM technology in Belize

Of the major North American cell phone carriers AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM technology which requires a sim card and is compatible with Digicell Belize. Smart phone company requires  an unlocked phone with CDMA 800 MHz or 850 MHz technology and will work with Verizon. Advantages of CDMA is that it does provide a better and more stable signal due to the nature of the technology. I can verify that as once I ...

Android blogging

Been playing around with my wordpress app this morning to see what the new update can do. There seems to be a lot more functionality for the dashboard and within the posts themselves, such as uploading pictures or video. One downside so far, I was not able to find a view all drafts option that would allow me to work on previously saved works in progress. Today's San Pedro weather report comes from Dennis wh ...

The irony is not lost

As I lay in bed icing my foot, I got to thinking about my fate Sunday, I wanted to let you know the irony is not lost. The fact that I was wearing a hat to bed 7 nights ago because I was cold and now I am wearing ice packs instead is very ironic. After my private laugh about it, and working out being mildly pissed off that I am grounded again, it came to mind that I can use this as a reminder. Sometimes we ...

Chicken Fried Steak

Dear Dr Al, you will be pleased to know I took the day off blogging yesterday, unfortunately I still had to work all morning. Dean and Gigi asked Paul, Dennis and I to join them for lunch down south at Lone Star Grill and Cantina, formerly known as Mr. Joe's Grocery. My appetite is still not back to normal but in the interest of gaining 10lbs I managed a chicken fried steak  covered in cream gravy. It came ...

San Pedro Lobsterfest 2012 Dates Announced

My San Pedro Belize weather report - as of last night I have progressed to wearing my Old Navy polar fleece toque to sleep. I felt like a burrito with my hat on all wrapped up in bed and had major layering going on - 2 sheets, 1 duvet cover, 1 sarong and 2 airline blankets.  Thankfully the wind has died down this morning and while it is still very cool in our second story apartment,  when the fluffy white c ...

Bonne année et bonne santé

Hope the New Year is going well for all of you in spite of any bad weather you might be experiencing - for us it is cold and wind today but at least it is not raining. I picked the title for this post to wish everyone a great year and good health. Bonne année et bonne santé is a well known french expression - my mothers side of the family is French.  It also ties on with my 2012 resolution of health and hap ...
