Carole and I were on the coconut phone yesterday afternoon and agreed we should go for DandE’s later on. I decided to text and facebook it to see who we could get to come join us for a spur of the moment ice cream frozen custard party.

Always a good time hanging out at Dan and Eileen’s shop – even some of the local dogs know if they come by they will get a doggy treat too.

Yummy Belize Breakfast

The rain is doing one of those off again on again things where just when I think the sun is going to come back out it goes away and the rain starts up again for 10 min or so. Hoping we get a clear patch around 9:00am – we are meeting Melissa and Edwin at Estel’s for some yummy Belize breakfast [scrambled eggs with cheese sides of bacon- potatoes and fried jack] before they catch the 11am to Tropic Air flight to Punta Gourda. Melissa and Eddie are going to enjoy a couple of days at Machaca Hill. I googled it and found a heavenly looking Belize jungle Lodge in the hills above the Caribbean coast of southern Belize – sounds good to me. I am sure they will have a great time – so much Belize out there to see.

Pretty quiet at the taco shack this morning. Chatting with Patrick on facebook and thinking I will see if Paul wants to go for a coffee date this morning.

New water bill is in this month [I get email notifications from Belize Water Services] was $46.05 which was $1.38 cheaper than last month – not a huge savings but least the numbers went down not up. Our water pre\assure has been a bit low lately – anyone else notice this?

Hitched a ride into town with Dick and Carole and went to the baker for iced coffee and lunch. We had my favorite a $5 sandwich and went deluxe on dessert and tried a creampuff I am such a sucker for whipped cream. I have to say Gunter’s puffs passed the test – they were extra creamy. So much that even with Paul’s warning to squish it together before biting into it I still had cream oozing out the sides – not a bad issue to have ha ha. I also liked the fact that they were not over sweet.

Tonight we ended up watching the Hooters pageant and playing real or fake guessing game. It was pretty easy to spot those who had enhancements for the most part – left me wondering why more girls do not go for more realistic looking instead of obviously fake. tacoboy said he was wondering if any of the finalists were standing there thinking the boob job money was well spent.

How I spent my 4th of July

One thing that people do not always consider as a result of a tropical storm is the amount of garbage blown up on the beaches. Cindy decided to organize a clean up crew today and together we picked up about 15 various sized bags of garbage. Well done Cindy for getting us out there on a gorgeous day to help clean up the island. Time for some breakfast and r&r with my book as we have 50 million events to go to later on. Ok slight exaggeration there but we will be quite busy doing a 4th of July crawl between Crazy Canucks Jam – visiting Rick - pool party at San Pedro Fitness Club and Vicky’s surprise party tonight at Tackle Box.

Went for a Joy Ride with Dick and Carole this aft. We were going to stop in and get the last Rick’s prescriptions that needed filling but he called when we were on our way there and said he really wanted a nap right now and if I could wait to come by till later he would appreciate that. So we crossed that errand off and set out to do the ones on Dick and Carole’s list and I took advantage of driving around town to snap some pics for my stock file. When they were done errands they dropped me off at the pool for the 4th of July pool party. I hung out for a bit and decided to go when Paul turned up as I wanted to get in a visit with Rick and see some of Derricks last Jam party before he heads off to Berklee Summer camp.

Rick was in good spirits today and cracking jokes about how he has never been arrested on the 4th of July. He said that Fritz came by earlier to see him and Derrick was supposed to drop by later. Progress report for today – he is able to get out of bed on his own but still needs 2 people to get him back in. Soon as he is a bit more mobile I have promised to kick his butt to the pool and he is willing to come. Off to tackle box now for Vicky’s Birthday – pics from that will come in the morning.

I have to admit as I was about to leave for Vicky’s birthday party I was a bit jealous of Paul watching Star Wars on the couch and wanted to be there too but I had promised Mario I would go. Dick Carole and I got there a bit late which turned out to be a good thing as Vicky and Mario arrived not long after. The Tackle Box was packed for Karaoke night with DJ Debbie who had everyone singing and dancing. Ovi was doing free rum shots – I am officially casting my vote for Ovi as the best shots maker – they go down so smooth. Last night they were fruity tasting and so good I drank 3 of them. Anyone who knows me well knows I rarely do shots – can think of maybe twice if that in the 4 years we have been living here that is until I met Ovi and sampled his delicious creations.

As we were getting ready to leave we got to see Sam put on a special birthday show for his mom. One of the guys was teaching him to break dance out on the deck and doing a fabulous job. He was able to help Sam do flips and showing him some super cool moves.

Almost back to normal

We are both still feeling like fossils after being so crazy busy last week. Trying to get back to normal – what ever that is. I just added a some Campasino from the Rum Cigar store in my morning iced coffee will hopefully help me put a spring in my step.

It was so nice to have a bit of a break and stay up at Captain Morgans for the night. Loved the band with dinner and the food was great. Afterward we were thinking of heading to Legends but the boat did not turn up when they said it would so a few of us went back to John and Rob’s room to hang out instead and I promptly bonded with a very large comfy couch. All our rooms are great – well set very comfortable and wifi.

After breakfast we puttered around Captain Morgans a bit and went to see what Joey’s room looked like – he scored big with a deluxe 2 bedroom right on the beach with a stunning view.

Lamanai & All you can eat Lobster Pizza

Damn I feel like I just shut my eyes and now I am already up and back at my lap top blogging. Today we go to Laminai – Cindy is coming along too should be a good adventure. Rebecca thought it would be good to get the boys out on a Maya ruins experience and see a bit of the mainland.

Just emailed Lara to let her know she is taking over decorating for Pedro’s tonight [Cindy and I sorted that one while on the Cat yesterday - have to get the balloons ready for Dianne to pick up and get filled and pack for Laminai. See you later.

Laminai was great no time for details - will get them up tomorrow. We are dashing off to our next event - all you can eat Lobster Pizza at Pedro's and trivia

Ok I have a min now to get back to Lamanai. Everyone always says how much longer this trip as you do a boat then a bus then another boat. Due to a very smooth ride it did not feel so bad to me time wise though I could imagine if water was rough it would. The ruins were fantastic and climbing to the top and being above the treeline was very cool. Loved the jungle and breakfast at Bomba was good too. Shot lots of great pics.

All you can eat Lobster night at Pedro’s was jam packed – everyone loved it when Bob The Parrot rang the bell. Check out the last 5 pics of the gang singing. It was pretty funny Joey was about to head back to Pelican Reef and came back not long after saying he was having cart trouble so Pedro got Joey to stay and sing Sweet Caroline with everyone.

p.s. the killer bananas [name likely wrong] won at trivia last night and donated all their winnings to help get Derrick to Berklee Summer Music Camp.

Meat and Greet Monday

Been a busy day so far. We had an early morning meeting at El Divino then headed into the Seaduced Office so that Robert cold get on the internet and get some work done. They have started sending film clips from Belize back to the states already so keep watch for them on Channel 16.

While Robert was working Joey and I went for a walk down front street. Ran into Pedro and Charlie he told us to hop on the cart and he would take us for coffee. While doing that we chatted with Lemon Crush Lara and Richard from Casa Cayo – he gave Joey and I a ride back to meet Robert.

Next stop was the school – when we did the initial tour of town and brought Joey and Robert as far as the bridge they said they would like to go see the school and get the kids to do a Hot Hot Hot clip so we did that – a very fast tour and lunch of stewed chicken and rice & beans.

Here are some pictures from today when they were shooting footage at the beach and at Holy Cross Anglican School. As you can see lots of people around town are excited to have their picture taken with Joey.

Time to go relax a bit before the meet and greet party tonight 6pm at El Divino. Hoping to catch some of the new footage on tv around 4pmish.

Annual Opening party for Lobsterfest [2010] at El Divino was great fun we saw lots of friends and the tapas plate they had this year was tasty. Joey and Robert have been getting to know people better which we all know is easy to do here. Joey even stopped to give Drummer Dan a lift this morning as far as crazy Canucks.

Last we saw them they were headed towards Roadkill with a full cart load. We came home and crashed.

Deep conversations

Last night at Pedro’s birthday was a night of deep conversations for me. Last thing I expected to happen especially after last years party where the main conversations I remember were with Maureen and Tracy about how we all needed another drink – laughing at big fake diamond rings that Maureen brought for lobsterfest and telling Pedro I was getting drunk for his birthday. A present which I paid dearly for till about 7pm the next day.

I would take bets there are a lot of derailed feeling people this morning – I lost count of how many times the bell was rung. Of course Jager was the birthday drink of choice and it was flowing in vast quantities. Forrest and I had a good laugh – I am one of the lucky few who has gained immunity and he has worked out a deal to take the hit with a rum shot instead.

This year I played it smart and stuck with yummy shrimp on rice – Gunther’s delicious chocolate cake and water. Way to much going on before lobsterfest to take myself out of the game. Right now my frame of mind is holding a slow steady pace even though it feels chaotic. I almost feel like I am watching a slow motion scene in a move because it feels so far away and yet time is passing so fast.

2010 San Pedro Lobsterfest will top the chart. We have so much cool stuff happening this year since we are extending the party for filming and starting at 11am. Yesterdays news from – the whole town was jazzed about Joey and Bob the Parrot’s arrival – from Quick silver Diane our handy custom mail delivery – messenger service and phone rental.

Internet is slow as potatoes this morning. I decided to add a gallery instead of loading pictures separately which is usually a lot faster – not today. Been at it since 7am – and it is now 12:30 was only trying to upload 18 pictures. If I was not in a slow patient mood or had somewhere pressing I be I would be cursing up a storm.

The rest of my day involves cleaning and couch surfing.

UGH – tacoboy was going to the store this aft and he realized that both our bikes were stolen – now we are back to being on foot. Someone had busted our lock and made off with them. Not to everyone take a picture of your bike for safe keeping.

Paella and Pasta night

3:30am I was dreaming about rain and in my dream I was dealing with some wet curtains – all of a sudden I got jolted out of sleep by the feeling of cool rain hitting my legs in real life so I jumped up to close the window and here I am.

Last night we went to Paella and Pasta night at Pedro’s Pizza. Once a month or so they do special food nights with guest chef’s. Martin and Walter did a fine job in the kitchen. The appetizers were yummy – I could not decide which one I wanted so I asked for a combo plate to try a bit of both. After walking in the kitchen to take some food pics I knew immediately before even tasting the food that the Paella was going to win first place and I was right.

We got offered pudding for a sweet treat afterward. Cindy Peter Jones and I got in a pudding conversation. I know pudding as in creamy jello chocolate kind that you make from a box or ready made pudding snack cups -whereas pudding for them most often refers to a dessert, but may also refer to a savory dish. What we got served as pudding was ice cream and fruit.
