Miss Carole’s Party

Janet (Dicks mom) popped me on the coconut phone a couple of days ago to remind me about Carole’s birthday and make sure she was not spending it alone as Dick was out of town. Last night Carole said she wanted to go to Tranquility Bay today on the boat and then do El Divino at Banana Beach Resort in the evening. I told her I could not go on the boat as I had a Monday afternoon meeting but we would both come to El Divino.

Unfortunately Carole’s boat plans got rained out today – I told her I would send out a last min e-vite for her party. About 14 of us turned up and we had a nice time chatting – eating and some enjoyed 2 for 1 martinis which are always a big hit. I stuck with my fav drink [aside from iced coffee of course] Arnold Palmer – wish more people on the island made them.

Everyone was leaving lots of birthday wishes for Carole on Facebook. I decided to do mine yesterday when I saw people had already started. Not long after Monel popped me on the coconut phone and said I hope Carole has a good sense of humor – so I went to check his comment - someone told me that because Carol has been so bad she is getting “Dick-all” for her birthday :-O. I thought that was too funny especially since it was true in a way – he did not know when he wrote it that Dick had just left town on Friday and would not be here to celebrate.

Double Celebration

This morning was funny our timeshare pets decided they wanted to have a snuggle fest. Molly had slept over cause Cindy was at work so late and when I opened the patio door Basil came charging in grabbed a quick bite to eat and jumped on the bed with us. Soppy pets.

Wind blowing strong – so strong it pulled the door out of my hand with a slam. The sky is a big gray blanket at just started to throw down heavy rain which lasted about 10 minutes or so and then the sky turned to a soft blue & white and the sun tried to come out a bit. Perfect weather for a lazy Saturday at home. I just made the last of my chili and lime popcorn from Mexico and going to settle in and watch movies – Phenomenon and Juno.

Lorie and Walters joint cake party tonight – Paul Mitch and I went to DandE’s for frozen custard and stopped by Pedro’s to catch some of the celebration on our way home. Luckily Jeff came back from taking Charlie and Molly to the beach and was willing to give is a ride back to the gypsy co-op.

Shout out to John and Carol who read yesterdays post and will be bringing band-aids to the poly clinic when they come next week. Please keep them coming folks – they can not have enough band-aids to help fix peoples boo boos.

Turning 18 in San Pedro Belize

Today is Sandra’s birthday and she is officially 18. We started her out with some exercise at the pool – always a good time and we get in great shape. Then Mitch and Jill took her for a beach afternoon at Caribbean Villa’s.

The girls bought Sandra a Dirty Banana at Catamaran beach bar – what a treat. They spent the afternoon there and had a great time at the beach. Later we all went to Pedro’s – good place to ring in your 18th birthday with pizza – wii and presents lol.
We figured out that they must have walked about 4 miles today not to shabby. I was probably closer to 3 as I did not do the beach and Paul clocked in at 2.

I got pedro’d

Incoming lobsterfesters – Colomojo and Tracey are back in town. Lucky ducks are here 3 weeks. I Hooked up with them this morning to go to the school. They were taking the magic red suitcase that keeps refilling it self and coming back and checking in about spending time at Holy Cross next week.

After school stopped at gecko graphics quickly to turn something in for Paul then made a bee line for the pool. We missed the first half of class but managed to catch some of the action – after class I caught up on what I missed in our pool.

Getting decorations ready for Pedro’s party tonight – it is going to be an interesting night. Paul and I are teaming up to make a making a pin the horns on the devil game. Unfortunately our printer is not working well so we will have to print the Pedro heads when we get there. Shout out to everyone who has contributed to my magic decorating box.

Party was too much fun – lots of people – bbq and 2 h of drinks on the house. I told Pedro I was going to get drunk for his birthday. Not such a bright idea and a total reminder of why I don’t drink – it is just not worth getting sick afterward.

Sunrise Celebration

It’s 3am and I am so glad we got mostly prepared last night cause my brain is not totally up yet ha ha.

You can Paul’s secret surprise which to the left hand side. Yesterday I went and bought up all the floaty rings that easily go around your waist from Caye Supply. Last night We played warmer colder game till he found where I hid the stash.

Lara just popped me on coconut phone I told her time is moving really fast and I am feeling super slow ha ha. I see Carole now she just came online. Paul is texting back and forth with Cindy.

Morning laugh – Lara’s blueberry muffins gone wrong – they are a bit on the hard side. Dick Carole and Zac should be here any minute – we decided to start the party together and all leave from here. Can’t wait this is going to be a kick@ss boat ride – of course you know there are pics coming. It’s about 3:30 am and Walter just called to say he and Shanelly will be there.

What a ride we ended up going past Long Caye.Walter drove the boat for a good chunk of time – Elito pointed out things along the way – told us great stories and talked about the island. We all marveled at the sunrise and all the amazing sights we saw. Pot luck was great we had enough food and drink to feed a small army. Thanks to Chunkyruth Monel and Ruth for sending stuff even though you could not come. I am sure everyone who was on the boat would agree this definitely rates as one of the coolest things we have done since moving here – it definitly got best birthday party status and Paul has not stopped talking about what a good time he had.

6:25pm Back from Catamaran and managed a very brief nap. We are in process of a bed party watching star wars with Jeff Molly Cindy Paul and I – amen for king size beds and good friends. Trying to get ourselves together meet Colette and Maya at El Divino in 15 min.

Uploaded pics but no way I can start wading through them at the moment will start that tomorrow morning.

Party was off the chart we all had such a good time.

This post still under construction – breakfast is mandatory right now all still feeling like zombies – was so worth it ha ha.

Tried to finish all the pictures but have to go to book signing and Madam’s dinner now – to many things going on and I still have not caught up on my sleep yet.

Double Header

I know it is cold when tacoboy is asking me to put an extra blanket on the bed. Usually when I am cold he is just right and when I feel just right he is hot.

Last night we stacked our bed with a sheet 2 empty duvet covers and 2 airline blankets – we probably could have used our comforter or thicker blanket even. Not to rub it in for those of you doing winter but once again I feel so lucky to have left snow and cold behind.

Just got back from a walk to town with Paul. On the way we found a wandering Lisbon and waited while Sharon came to the rescue and gave us a ride into town. At Perk we ran into Francis and Vernon and she mentioned the hats that Dicks Oma (grandma) knitted were a big hit with the kids during this last cold spell.

On the way home we caught the new escalator being moved in at Wings – a bit of a strange sight. I can just imagine when the kids see it in action. It also looks like a new building going up south of town is going to have an elevator in it – Paul thought that because of the way they made the hole in the ground. will have to wait and see on that one.

Rubyd and Nicole’s double header birthday party at Canucks was a fun time. We enjoyed some delicious food – friends – celebrated the girls and home by 8:30 to watch the new James Bond – if I can stay awake that long ha ha.

Lorie’s cake Party

I was woken up at 5 am by a text message from digicell telling me my text messages are about to run out. For about 2 seconds I thought I would get up and go catch the sunrise at the beach, instead I covered my eyes against the growing light and figured I could catch another hour sleep. Apparently not… all of a sudden a skeeter started buzzing in my ear – same one got to Paul too and he started stirring enough to get up so I figured I might as well get an early start to my day. Got to get busy helping Walter for his birthday party planning.

Just talked to Christine on the coconut phone she arrives Sunday.

Shout out to Herb and Zac both back in Canada.

4:00 pm – been busy a busy day. Luckily we got to take a chat break on the balcony after aquafit class because placed we had to go in town were closed for lunch. Been getting decorations ready for tomorrow. I was planning to get to the south beach meeting, but Paul came home with a change of plans and said I was needed to decorate for tonight as well. So I got more stuff from my stash and Paul, Mark and I headed over to Pedro’s early.

After decorating we needed a bit of a break, since Video Paul had to go back home to get shorts for Cindy, Paul, Mark and I decided to go along for the ride. We called Carole and told her we would pick her up along the way and Dick could meet us at Pedro’s after work. Pedro’s was packed with people celebrating Lorie’s birthday – was a great party.

The memorial service for Lacy was was very nice and very well attended, though definitely missing were her boys, Chris and Eric. Between time and money it was not possible for either of them to attend. There is a private memorial service planned for when the boys are able to come to island – hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks. To date, $658.20 has been raised here to help with flight expenses. The money is being held in trust for them and will be converted to US$ by a patron here. We are still approximately $1800Bz short of our goal. The mailbox is still active for those of you wish to send a donation by mail (Unit %%% Quicksilver Messenger Service, San Pedro Town, etc., and I am still able to accept Western Union Money Transfers towards the fund for Lacy’s boys. Their Uncle Tim, island icon Barefoot Skinny, and father Dallas Dave appreciate all the support in memory of Lacy Budd.

Slowly getting ready for my birthday party – Been chatting Lara, gailtor and Carole on the coconut phone.

I am so lucky – TL emailed me this morning and said she is coming down with a friend offered to get my old navy bikini’s. Paul agreed that was a good option since we could not find one yesterday for my present. The sale is still on and I found lots in my size online so I got to have some fun.

Holey Moley – the craziest thing just happened. Our tv was not on and it started smoking like it was about to catch fire we has a major surge and lost power to almost everything in the house. A bunch of stuff slowly came back on but we lost a router some lights and fan and although or tv works I am weary about the smell. We were lucky Handy Man Eddie was here within 10 minutes of our call to assess the situation.

Jack and Carin if you are reading this I am able to post thanks to you.

I really get moving now this unexpected craziness set us behind.

Everything else aside that just happened the Party was great. So many people came and had fun in the pool, mini golf, ping pong and gazing at San Pedro from the roof top.

I am able to load some pictures now – because I am on the balcony it is hard to properly edit out any fuzzy ones.

Pics all done yay.

Top tips: Always use surge protectors no matter what country you are in – make sure to back up your work regularly (I will be doing that as soon as we have power again.)

A work in progress

Just like so many things my spiral design labyrinth is a work in progress – more conch shells needed.

Hitched a ride to town with canuckboi and canuckgirl today. Picked up some veggies and Charlie’s birthday present a bag of marrowbone treat’s – she will like that. Will go to Pedro’s in a bit to decorate.

Reminder: The swimming pool at the fitness club always needs new and gently used swimsuits for all ages. They hand them out to local people who need swimsuits as they do not allow street clothes in the pool – you might catch a deal at end of summer sales.
