Caribbean Sunset Cruise

8:12 am – The other day Heather asked me to take a sunset picture for her after I was describing how cool it was a – big pinkish orange ball – by the time I grabbed my camera and went back out on the veranda the clouds had overtaken my view and I did not get the pic.  Little did Heather know I was in the works of planning a sunset cruise for tonight and that she would get her sunset pic after all.

We had planned to meet at Ramon’s dock for 5:00 pm to check in and start boarding the catamaran – Seaduced emailed me and asked everyone to get there 15 min earlier. This way we could depart at 5:00 pm and make it down to Hol Chan Marine Reserve for a more spectacular view of the sunset – I was all for that.

4:00 pm – Chatting with Heather on the coconut phone as I was getting ready to go on the boat. We are brainstorming the San Mateo Sanitation project and focusing on reaching the date of June for the first build. Since we have started really throwing it out there to the universe we have been making new connections and being led in new directions that are allowing us to fill in more chunks of the puzzle in a short amount of time. Thanks to everyone who has helped get the word out – given us a contact name – donated time or money – put the thought out there…. Let’s keep the ball rolling and make it work. June is coming fast.

If you know anyone or can help in any way please make contact or pass this post along. One thing we need in particular is 55 gallon blue drums that will be used for composting toilets – anyone out there have any connections or thoughts on that?

Just in an updated list from Heather of items needed for the build – if anyone can help on this please make contact -” Fish Netting – Sturdy nylon – Stainless steel ‘s’ hooks Rubber Hose – Funnel – 1” tubing – burlap – Foamcore Drain Pipe – Vent piping – Vent outlet tee fitting – Fly screen -Uniseal fitting – clamp – True Union Ball Valve – Telescoping flexible duct – Fernco Water stop.

9:04am – Been editing – uploading – and going over yesterday’s writing since 6:30 am. So exciting reading back about Heathers progress. I hope anyone that can will come down and join the party for the first build of composting toilets in San Mateo. I do not have exact dates yet – rough idea early June. The girls at Direct Abundance had really innovate ideas –  voluntourism in Belize.

Here is an exert from their blog – I was fortunate enough to of been granted time off work to go to Belize for 2 weeks in January with my daughter.  I assisted Joanne in preparing for the United Against Abuse conference and was fortunate enough to be able to attend.  I was busy dropping off donations to schools and orphanages from all of you.  Thank you to the numerous businesses such as Jodies Resturant, Queensway Nail and Spa, Dr Hayward and others that ran school supplies and toy drives. The Kings Children’s Homes and Marlas Children’s Home were overwhelmed to finally be able to give every child a christmas gift. The schools Ocean Academy and Holy Cross were so grateful for everything we delivered. A special thank you to everyone who donated cash to assist with the shipping cost to deliver all these wonderful things.

I continue to research and explore science and technologies to improve the living conditions of impoverished communities throughout Belize. My research has lead me to become overwhelmingly aware of the issue of sanitation, water and the environment. I am currently working closely with an environmental engineer who has generously shared his knowledge and experience to lead me on the path for sustainability within these communities. We are currently working on plans that are cost effective and practical and that will allow the community to empower themselves to create better living conditions. I am excited about the path that will lead this plan to implementation.

Cotton Tree Lodge in San Felipe Belize is also into Voluntourism

I have said it before and I will say it again a Caribbean sunset cruise is one of the must do water adventure tours on Ambergris Caye. Those of us who had done one before all agreed we need to do them way more often and enjoyed watching the first timers fall in love with the experience. As usual, the Seaduced by Belize boys took great care of us and made sure we had a most enjoyable Sunday evening.

With 4.5 stars and 239 reviews, it’s no surprise that SEAduced by Belize won a Certificate of Excellence award in 2014. Read what other travelers have to say about the popular Ambergris Caye tour company on TripAdvisor.
